The Western Reserve Greenway is a paved rail-trail extending 44 miles through Ashtabula and Trumbull counties in northeast Ohio. Ashtabula County is home to 27 of these miles, stretching from the city of Ashtabula southward to the county line where it continues for 17 miles into Trumbull County.

It is the realization of a vision developed by Greenway authors Maurice D. Hinchey, Barnabas McHenry and Steven Saland, and enacted into law by Governor Mario M. Cuomo. This trail is part of the larger Seneca Creek Greenway Trail (SCGT), planned as a 25 mile greenway connection between the Potomac and Patuxent Rivers. The lower section of the trail, located in Seneca Creek State Park south of MD 355, is 16.2 miles in length. The Setauket-Port Jefferson Station Greenway Trail stretches just over 3 miles along Long Island’s north shore. Construction was completed in two phases with the first trail section opening in 2009 and the subsequent phase opening in 2014.
